Trauma Counselling
Trauma Counselling helps you to identify and come to terms with feelings and emotions you may experience during or after a traumatic event. Trauma can involve single incidents or can also be repeated and enduring emotional distress over a long period of time.
Trauma counselling has one primary objective: To resource you and help you get your life back on track. In time you will be able to move from simply surviving, which often involves hardship and struggle to living and eventually being able to thrive.
Psychotherapy
Through psychotherapy, therapists can help people of all ages live happier, healthier, and more productive lives.
In psychotherapy, therapists apply scientifically validated procedures to help people develop healthier, more effective habits. There are several approaches to psychotherapy—including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and other kinds of talk therapy—that help individuals work through their problems.
Confidence Building
Counselling and life coaching are common therapies used to help improve self-confidence.
A therapist can offer a safe space to consider what is realistic and achievable, and to explore disappointments and setbacks. Techniques and strategies can be developed to build your self-confidence and change current negative thought patterns. If setbacks have been insurmountable, it may be worth exploring why with a trained professional.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder &
Post-Traumatic Growth
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events. Sometimes it might be helpful to talk to a counsellor who has experience of working with people who have had similar experiences to you. They may be able to help you to think through the things you can do to help you manage your thoughts and feelings.
“I have special interest working with uniformed services e.g. military veterans, prison, police and other emergency services. I served 9 years in HM Armed Forces as an infantry soldier and understand the military ethos and issues that working in high risk and dangerous environments can bring, and the psychological impact that can cause disruption to the individual and their dependants both during and post-service.”
